Dear Friends,

It is my joy to invite you to the very special concert of the BCMS. The highlight of this program will be the premiere of two dynamic and very engaging pieces by a well-known local composer, pianist, professor ofpiano at the University of North Texas - Steven Harlos. His two sonatas (violin/ piano, flute, piano) will see their world premiere performance in the beautiful place of Enika and Richard Schulze's house.

We are proud to welcome our guest, the principal flutist of DSO Demarre McGill, who will join his DSO colleagues in a brisk and energetic trio by an Italian composer, Nino Rota- who can forget his music for world famous films such as Romeo and Juliet, 81/2 and many others! You will also hear the captivating piece of the Czech composer, Bohuslav Martinu'ssonata for flute, violin and piano.

The Blue Candlelight Music Series continues with the theme of the season, Women in Music.

We will bring to our listeners works of two female composers from different centuries. Both women contributed into the music world with their talent, dedication and passion to music. Our contemporary composer is also a much sought after conductor, her compositions have been praised by The New York Times as “powerful, stylistically varied and technically demanding”. We are proud to introduce our audiences to New York City’s Victoria Bond. You will hear the rhythmical, energetic Samba, for flute and piano.

Another woman composer will bring her extraordinary talent from 19th century music salons and concert halls right into our salon at Schulze Home. Clara Schumann's Romances for violin and piano mirror works written by her famed husband, Robert Schumann. Her style is very subtle and personal, with great nuanced dialogue between the two instruments. The Rota Flute Trio will conclude our evening.

See you at the concert,
With love,
Baya.
