My Dear Friends,
Welcome to the Blue Candlelight Music Series’ 18th Season!
Our BCMS team is delighted to bring you seven exciting Sunday evenings featuring some of our world’s finest musicians, up close and personal, in the Schulze’s gracious, soaring living room.
We are proudly opening our doors this season to several new musicians who will hopefully join our widespread BCMS family for many years to come. Richard Young, violinist, and legendary former member of the iconic Vermeer Quartet, will join violinist Gary Levinson, cellist Bion Tsang, and me in our opening concert.
Our other new artists this season include ltamar Zorman, winner of the 11th International Tchaikovsky Competition, William Fedkenheuer, member of the world-renowned Miro Quartet, and Asiya Korepanova, pianist virtuoso born in Russia and based in Boston.
In addition, we are delighted to welcome the latest sensation across social
media and the classical world, blind pianist Tamar Shalvashvili, who will charm us with her solo recital featuring diverse and colorful composers with various musical styles.
Long time subscribers will be thrilled to see and hear again some of the out standing, beloved musicians who’s past BCMS performances left indelible impressions in our hearts.
This season includes pieces composed by well-known masters of classical music as well as rarely performed works by composers such as Joseph Boulogne, Chevalier de Saint Georges, known sometimes as the “Black Mozart of France”, and composer/saxophonist, Matthew Evan Taylor.
I am excited that, for the very first time, BCMS will feature pieces composed by Nodar Gabunia and Otar Tatishvili, two well-known composers from my beautiful native country, Georgia.
Please know I welcome you to this exciting and whimsical year filled with music, joy, and friendship!
With love,
Baya
