Breaking Barriers:

From the very beginning, Blue Candlelight Music Series was conceived as a sanctuary of beauty and historically authentic presentation for all to enjoy. As chamber music is, at its core, an intimate, salon based activity, the board was challenged to create an environment in which many diverse communities were welcome. Thus, initiatives such as providing free tickets to underserved neighborhoods, providing students with free family members and going into the community with award winning outreach programs, have broken barriers that have traditionally kept young people from benefitting from the magic of great chamber music.

Blue Candlelight Music Series is committed to equity, diversity and inclusion in our composers, musicians, audience, and organization. BCMS strives toward equitable treatment of all, respects and values diverse life experiences and heritages, and chooses to include all, not only to be present, but to participate in all aspects as much as possible.  BCMS encourages those who nurture diversity and equity in their places of work and in their broader communities and aims to provide outreach and opportunities to celebrate and incorporate the broad experiences of all. History of Blue Candlelight Music Series

Blue Candlelight Music Series was founded in 2002 as the brainchild of Daredjan “Baya” Kakouberi and Lisa Blue. Their vision was to enrich the cultural fabric of Dallas by presenting performances by world class musicians in the intimate surroundings of an elegant private home. In that way an audience could experience classical music and close contact with musicians recreating the atmosphere in which chamber music masterpieces were originally performed.
